Successful people change. Always, continuously, and relentlessly. Successful people know they must constantly adapt if they are to stay successful. After all, old endings give way to new beginnings.

So exactly what am I talking about? What does this have to do with creating success in tough times?

You decide what you will do to influence your own attitude.
The choices you make and the actions you take affect the results you will get.

You and you alone are responsible for your success; that’s one of the great things about living in our country. Just because the media tells you we are experiencing tough times dosen’t have to mean you will too. And in fact, don’t!

Be Able to Change When Change is Needed
This seems to be so simple but few are really able to adapt when change is necessary; by the time they realize it, it is often too late.

If what you are doing currently isn’t working, change it. Remember Einstein’s definition of insanity – doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Get into the habit of regularly tweaking what you’re doing until you hit a winner.

Don’t fall prey to the “disease of inaction.”
Inaction leads to death in this business. Commercial buildings that don’t get maintained, brokers who don’t learn new selling skills, and properties that quit their marketing campaigns due to “inactivity” or lack of funds, will all lose out.

Take action daily. Period. It make a difference. Set aside time in your calendar each day to plan and stick to it.

There are exciting times ahead of us in commercial real estate – be positioned to take advantage of them by adopting “success” as your motto! Success isn’t just around the corner, it’s here.
